Window - stopped functioning

The drivers' side window stopped functioning without warning. Have not driven my 2005 MINI for a couple of weeks. Can not lower the drivers side window with either the window switch or key fob. The switch & key fob operate the passenger window.

I checked and switched the fuses, but no effect. Any other ideas or help would be appreciated.

This happened to both of my minis and still does every once and awhile. My fix is to give it a firm smack with my fist just under the tweeter. Works almost every time! If that doesn't work I have to take the door panel off and take a soft hammer and give it a little bit more attention right behind the window motor. A mechanic told me I would have to change the motor soon and has yet to happen, its been 2 years sense my first encounter.

Good luck

Same thing happened to me while on vacation about a month ago. Checked fuses and everything. Everything was fine, so jumped on here off my iPhone and learned the "Fonzie" trick which was mentioned above. Believe it or not, actually works, and really good too!

this has been an ongoing problem for both of my windows too. I have never been successful with hitting the door. Drivers window is hit or miss whether it will roll down, while the passenger hasn't been down in a couple months. I talked to the dealer once about it, but can't remember what they said would need replaced.

Sometimes it just takes a few good pops. That's what I had to do with my driver side window. Just keep trying, it honestly does work!

It's because of carbon dust or something like that inside of the motor. Motor actually should be good. The best solution is replacing the motor, or clean the motor. Temporary solution is hit the right above the door speaker to make the motor vibrate and let dusts come off.

I do that every now and then when my windows hop every now and then too. Who ever thought of hitting their baby would actually help em' work! I was a little afraid to do it the first time too, but now I'm glad I did!

so i had to give the "fonzi" trick one more shot before i discredited it. Of course this time it worked like a charm. Obviously i have been doing it wrong all along. So glad to have both windows down now. :D
