Broken Sunroof

Does anyone know where I can get details on how the sunroof linkage is supposed to work so I can repair mine? The sunroof on my 2003 mini cooper s opens perfectly fine. But when closing it stops about 1/2 way and reverses back to open. I have to hit the switch a bunch of times while pushing the glass up slightly to get it closed as it won't do it by itself. Any idea what part needs replacing?

thanks.

Kevin

It may be the motor. Try lubricating the tracks, unfortunately there aren't really any separate parts for the sunroof other than the complete assembly. If lubricating doesn't fix it, try removing the front glass panel, there should be a few screws on the inside panel on each side.

If the problem continues with the glass removed, then you may need a new sunroof. Also try initializing it by holding down the sunroof button for 15-30 seconds in the close position.

Does it stop (and reverse) in the same exact position every time? (Check for a burr or debris in the track) Or does it happen at various points, or possibly not every time? (Lube the tracks)
