Here is the Carbon Black and Gray Sun visors. It looks like the black ones just had a part number update a couple months ago.

R56 and R55 models. The Gray was used up to 8/2010 , then they went to the light beige color. So light beige form 8/2010+.

Carbon black was used for all with the anthracite or also called the black headliner.

I just bought a used 2005 hard top mini and am having the same issue with the broken vanity mirror on the sun visors. It seems like even when these are functional they are still pretty much un-useable. Has anybody looked into replacing these with something else so that they are actually functional?

I also bought a 2005 mini about 3 months ago. I noticed the cover for the mirror doesn't stay up. Like it is loose or something. Was this a similar problem you had? And if so how did you go about fixing it?

These are the Gen 2 ( R56+ 2007+)

They are easy to replace. Just two screws and unplug and snap out of the holder side.

You will need the Gen 1 parts.

video instructions to repair visor mirror cover

I found this video over on the mini2 forums where he replaces the broken plastic pins that hold the mirror cover in place.

There are typed instructions on the video; some are blurry but I just kept pausing the video and could make them out.

It's not necessary for the pin repair but he also shows how to remove the whole mirror assembly, the covers where the bulbs are, pulls the bulbs out, and the wiring harness.
