valve lifter noise
After sitting overnight, (oil drained back to sump) the valve lifters in my new Mini are quite noisy for a few seconds after starting. Is premature wear on the lifters a concern when these mating surfaces are "dry"? The service manager at my dealer says BMW is making a "production change to correct the problem". Anyone else know about this or a retro fix for the problem?
Drifter,
What year/ production month is your MCS? I've got a 04 Sept Production MCS that occasionally has a lot of lifter noise at start up after it's been sitting overnight. At first I thought it was low on oil, but with only 300 miles I didn't see how it could be. Then I was concerned that the Dealer hadn't put back in enough oil aftet they installed the JCW Kit, but the oil level is fine. This may explain it.
MINI Division, Can I use this same reference number when I call MINI? What is the production change MINI is making?
Charlie
