Sunroof sticking.

My sunroof on my 2006 MCS decided to start acting funny.

It works fine backwards (opening) but it gets stuck going forward (closing). I had to give it a little love push to close it tonight because it would just get completely stuck.

It almost seems like there is a ton of friction and it needs to be lubricated. Is it safe to lubricate the track? I am in warranty and don't want to mess up any chances I have of the dealer fixing it if it is a big problem.

Bump!

And yes, before someone asks the question, I did search first.

Spray white lithium seems to be the preferred lube. Should clean the tracks up a bit too, especially if you're parked outside a lot.

+1 to the lithium. This stuff is amazing. DON'T use WD40 whatever you do.

My sunroof was acting up when I opened it on hot days. I took it to the dealer and they cleaned the track and lubed it.......It acted up again on the next really hot day, so back to the dealer. They fixed it per the "Special Bulletin". The sticking seems to be fixed since it didn't stick today and the temperature was 95. Now it sounds like air coming in. I haven't tested it for water leaks but will do that soon. I didn't see any water inside when I took it home from being repaired but I'm not sure how much water they put on it when they washed it. Many more trips to the dealer and I'll soon be in need of an oil change :-) .....200 miles round trip.
