DSC and Tire Pressure lights on

Just had a nice drive with my wife and her 2003 S. We stopped in a parking lot and when I pulled out of the lot, I noticed both the DSC and the Tire Pressure warning lights were on. After the short drive home, I let the tires cool and checked them – OK. Checked the fuses – OK. Flipped the DSC switch, but the light’s still on. Any suggestions? My wife’s afraid to drive the car.

Sounds like you have a failed or dirty wheel speed sensor. Most gen1 mini's compare the #'s of tire rotations to determine if a tire has gone flat...the same sensor sends info to the computer to help it determine if the car is going where you intentend it to go.

After researching this for several hours over the last couple of days and finding this thread https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/stock-problems-issues/170570-the-dreaded-wheel-sensor-how-to-fix-it.html[/SIZE][/FONT, my wife saw me reading the thread and stated “oh I forgot to tell you, the lights went off yesterday”. After bloodying my tongue, I said thanks.

If/when the lights return, I will clean the speed sensors and report back. Many thanks to ZippyNH and to those that contributed to the many other threads.

I actually had the DSC light come on while on the way home from MOTD last week. It only occurred after some fast highway driving (passing a bunched rolling traffic jam). Pressing the DSC switch did nothing. I stopped for fuel some time later, and when I started it back up, the light was off. Problem has not come back yet.

Interestingly, my old '02 MCS never had this problem. But it only had ASC.
