Why does my clutch feel and sound this way!?

My clutch feels very 'sticky' and it has a noise to go along with it. It will not smoothly move to the floor or come back up without 'catching' and making a squeaky type noise. With the engine off and the windows open it can very plainly be heard. Anyone know what this is?

Thanks,

Steve

Is the noise from inside or outside the car?

I have the same problem. At first I thought it was my slave cylinder and I attempted to lubricate it but it did not help. I believe the actual cause is the throw out bearing having a "sticky" type friction and thus you feel it all the way back to the pedal. Apparently it is semi-common, at least it seems that way from what I have searched.

Maybe you meant 'Inside the passenger compartment' or 'outside the passenger compartment'? It seems to be coming from the beneath the engine, not from the clutch pedal.

Have you pursued a repair estimate? Thanks.

I'm taking my car in to the shop in two weeks to leave it while I'm out of town. Having the front steering replaced (leaking) and I'll have them check out the noise. Thanks all.
