Has your MINI had any oil changes? If so, what was the mileage when the oil was changed?

I guess the turbos have some problems with 2007 Cooper S...I own one and luckily(?) the dealership found a leak during regular maintenance.

Car is back....

Sorry for the delayed respose to this thread. Car was done the following thursday.
I drove the loaner 09 JCW Clubman for 6 days and parked it in the DIA paking lot. Came back to DIA5 days later got in the car and it went into gear but the engine reved but no exceleration. Another tow to the dealership and another lost 1/2 day of work

Picked my car up the following day and it drives fine. Was told they replaced the turbo and changed the oil twice.
I did ask the service guy about oil changes in the future and he recommended 7500 miles at the least. Of course oil changes at that interval are not covered by MINI maitence and also advised checking oil levels every 1000 mi. Asked him about doing the oil changes on own and would I have to use MINI oil filter or would the warrany be void. Told me that was a gray area but would recommend MINI oil filters as there is no better out there.

I still notice a noisy start up. A vibration? that does go away with driving a short distance.

I do have to thank the service people a Schomp they wanted to pay for a cab from the airport and overnight in hotel for the trouble caused by the loaner breaking down. I live 75 mi from the dealership. Fortunately I had family in Denver and they picked me up and I stayed overnight with them.

Don't get me wrong I love my MINI this is my second one. But I am concerned about the car going out of warranty. It currently has 43,000mi.

Good lord if this happens again I am really screwed.

Intend in doing my own changes approx every 5000-7500 miles to keep the gremlins away.

Any other suggestions are appreciated

I've heard from a few people to use MINI oil filters from the dealer. Won't void your warranty and you know they're going to fit right (some aftermarkets are too small)

cold start issue persists

Took the car into the dealership again on SAT. Engine noise-soulds like a diesel. Confirmed that the timing chain tensioner was never looked at when the turbo was replaced. Car maybe ready by Tuesday, still have not heard what was found (or not found).

I am seriously thinking about trading it for a newer MINI. Any words of wisdom regarding 2010. hopefully not as many problems as in the 07.

Was 07 just a bad year????

The car being at the dealership is getting old. Love my MINI but just don't want to go through this again.

If you can wait for a 2011 model, do so as many of the 07-10 MY issues will have been resolved, including the cold start rattle, due to the revised engine.

http://www.motoringfile.com/2010/05/...ines-in-depth/

And that cold start issue? It’s eliminated with the new engine. For the sake of the MotoringFile reader I continued to press him a bit and he let slip that the issue was caused by a production problem from a supplier. However problems with current engines have been rectified with a fix sent to dealers earlier this year according to the engineer.
BTW, if you read enough of NAM I don't think you'll find that many are convinced that the cold start rattle has been completely licked per this quote. I think we're all in a "let's wait and see" mode at this point.

I wonder if that will be the case in the countryman? Living in CO the 4 wheel drive option is inticing.

If I wait til 2011 my warranty will be expired..already have 43,000 mi on it.

Well not really in a hurry per se but would like to trade before the warranty has expired.

the normal clubman (non-s) doesn't have these problems right? I read these horrible issues and I am really afraid.. =( I went to test drive a mini clubman 2010 and thought it had enough power for local driving and commuting. the S would be better but with so many issues relating to the turbo s, I am kinda of afraid.

I have an '08 JustaCooper and I do not have the kinds of problems the "S"s are having. Nothing engine related what so ever, I've had the Gear Shift Interlock problem a couple of times, and window issues, other than that...ZIP!!

Car diagnosis complete-replaced fuel pump and timing chain. Mind you the car has 44,000 mi on it and in the last month, new turbo and now these two repairs.

Ok..so nothing else should go wrong..right?

Ugg..
