2006 MCSC Leaking Oil Pan Gasket

When I had the CAI and 15% pulley installed in my 2006 MCS Cabrio the mechanic showed me that the oil pan gasket had a small leak, at 16,500 miles. "Small leaks do not get smaller, only larger." The car is still under warranty so I called the MINI dealer in Charleston, SC. I was told that was a four hour job!!! Does that sound reasonable to y'all.

This is a chronic problem for MINI's and it's in a bad spot. Other parts need to be removed to get it off so it takes "them" 4 book hours. A good MINI Mechanic can do it in half the time.

Mine was replace this past summer along with the main bearing seal. What I should have done was to replace the old oil pan with a newer baffled style oil pan......maybe next time.

I am not aware of the "baffled style oil pan". Could you please give a few more details about it. Why is it an improvement?

A baffled oil pan has little walls in it that help prevent all the oil from going to one side of the oil pan or another, helping to reduce the chance of your car not getting oil in a hard turn. My opinion of this is that is the type of thing only track junkies really need.

Even if they are doing under warranty, they shouldn't have a problem putting on the different pan.
