ok ive read these post and mine is simular its an 02 mini (non s) it had a crank code... the shop had me buy a crank sensor and still wont start they orderd a coil and still no start after taking a plug wire out and putting in a extention they say it isnt getting spark but the battery dies with everything off, the coil has constant power at the leads to the coil but still just cranks away and this 02 is killing me 18,000.00 almost in repairs im in the hole still owe 9800.00 so i cant get rid and i love it when it runs can i pls get some sugestions no warrenty even the shop told me im screwd it ran i went in to bed came out next day for work an this is what im dealing with, its been down now 9 months nobody knows n i cant afford the dealer..

 

tiny u might want to post this in the Gen1 problems section...the thing is the problems talked about in here are for classics....so things like starter fluid and inertia starters wont apply to the R5X chassis

 

My 03 had the same thing- battery died, after which it would not start. The immobilizer (EWS) had to be re-synchronized ("aligned") with the ECU- a dealer-only trick, I'm afraid. It's happened twice to me, at $ 100 plus towing each time. It took 5 minutes, and started immediately. I had it done once at a BMW dealer, once at a Mini dealer. Why does it happen? MINI says it doesn't. Hmmm.
