Another BPV thread

Just installed a Detroit Tuned BPV. I can start the car but it quickly dies unless I keep the gas on. I'm not seeing any warning lights come on. Everything seemed to go smooth and back together nicely. It's dark now so I'm done for the day. Anyone have any tips on where to start looking tomorrow? This is an '02 MCS. Any replies appreciated.

I'll basically be doing it all over again and triple checking all the lines and TB connectors as seen in other threads. I just can't think of what went wrong. I didn't hear the SC hose crack but who knows.

Thanks for the quick reply Yo. I suppose that will be the first thing to check. I guess my re-install will tell me what it is. I hope.

I got back to it early the next morning. But before I started in on it I thought I'd try to start it. Fired right up just like normal and warmed up to its usual idle on the first try. I'm guessing the ECU reset may have had a hard time? I dunno. I looked at all my connections without taking it apart and it looked good. I was pretty confident I put it in right the first time. Didn't hear any hissing or air leaks. I know the reset worked because I started out the day with really bad gas mileage watching it go up over the last couple of days to my usual. Just wondering if this little hiccup is hinting at any other issues. The new BPV is definitely noticeable and feels great. A much needed improvement. This car just keeps getting better.

I did have one issue when I did the first install and thought I'd share. When I was doing the swap I noticed the bracket holding the top end of the throttle body was getting rubbed by the plunger dealio on the BPV. Makes me wonder if that was part of my problem. I took it off and realized it has these mounting bolts that mount through rubber bushings on the bracket. The bushings had gotten torn up a bit perhaps causing it to stray a little. I decided to grind out a bit of the bracket until I can get it set up properly.

You can see a little spot to the right of my thumb where the paint rubbed off the bracket from the BPV plunger arm. I could actually see it resting at the end of its stroke on the bracket. I imagine when the car is running it was getting beat up a bit. Just another thing to obsess about.

Here's the bracket mounted after the grind.

Sorry about the lame cell phone shots!
