Rear Wiper Spray Clogged

My rear wiper sprayer isn't spraying evenly. I got a safety pin and unclogged it, which helped a little. For the most part is sprays a stream very close to the bottom and hardly reaches the top. I pulled the little sprayer nozzle off and made sure it was clean. As it happens, you can aim them, which doesn't really help. It either shoots over the car or 3cm in front. Any ideas? It should be an mist, not a stream, right?

On my last 03 MC it was an even spray, not a stream. It was also clogged at some point, but worked great after I got a safety pin.

Try really cleaning the nozzle with compressed air if you have it. I find if you wretle with it for a while, you can get it to spray adaquately.

Unfortunately the pin just pushes the gunk back inside.....compressed air, or maybe the stuff used to blow dust off computers might help. I'd use a smaller pin, maybe a sewing needle to try to pull some crap out.

I just popped the little nozzle off (smaller than a tic tac) and there seems to be nothing blocking the flow. I'll let it soak just to make sure, but it appears to be pretty clean. The nozzle adjusts (rotationally) so I'll experiment with placement as well. It seems to have good pressure, shoots 3-4' over my car when its pointed straight up.

I did the same thing. Mine had stopped working completely. I popped the plastic back cover off the wiper nozzle area, and clean out anything in there, popped it back on and re-aimed it, and now it sprays like a champ.

This happened to me last winter. I don't know if it's the result of cleaning it, but mine (11/03 build MCS) seems to have more of a forceful stream than a spray coming out of it. It took me several tries adjusting it so that it would actually hose down the glass - the slightest bump would get it streaming out the wrong way. But now that I've got it fine-tuned, it works better than ever.

Try a drill bit in the tube that leads to the nozzle. Indendations on drill bit help pull out the gunk.

You might also want to check the o-ring. It can go hard and chunck up the nozzle.

And be careful when using compressed air, you could blow the o-ring out and then you don't get a good seal and it leaks.

New caps are only $6-10 from the stealerships.

Might seem a little off topic, but does anyone know if the wipe blade is suppose to lock in on an '03 MCS? I have the same issue with the wiper jet not spraying and in the process of cleaning it I replaced the wiper blade. I noticed it just seems to sit in the arm with the pressure of the arm holding it against the glass. Is this normal, or is my wiper arm broken?

Did you just replace the blade (rubber) portion or the whole wiper?

I replaced the whole wiper, plastic part and rubber blade. However, the arm that the wiper connects to doesn't have like a lock to hold the blade. It's just got the groove where the wiper sits and it looks like it's all in tact nothing broken. I'm just used to wipers locking in somehow, and this doesn't appear to do that.

hi guys, nice thread. My fix was pulling off the plastic cover and then using a pump-air pellet rifle, and aiming the outside hole and shooting a puff of compressed air... one shot of compressed air (quite strong), and some gunk came flying out the inside hole.

The hole itself is a 90 bend, so you can't even thread fishing wire through it. What I did find was blowing into the hole after clearing it, was that you can actually feel the airflow being smooth and clear. Before clearing it, blowing into the hole, you could feel that something was stuck, but was impossible to get out.
