Help!! Can't go over 4k RPM or else I'm limp!! Help!!

So the other day I was using some PB blaster to get a rusty bolt in my engine bay. MISTAKE. I noticed some drip down towards my crank pulley. Wiped as much as I could off and thought nothing of it. Well today I took the car out and everything was fine, Until I went over 4k RPM the the car goes into limp mode and giving me the infamous CEL, with code P1688. I saw the post in which Octaneguy's crank pulley failed resulting in similar behavior. Could it be the PB Blaster is causing my crank to spin faster acting as a lubricant, or could my belt be slipping as a result of the blaster? I just don't know. Another symptom that makes me think crank pulley is because I can free rev all day and nothing happens! only when the car is in gear am I limited to 4k-5k RPM. I can only assume the computer senses an anomaly and is kicking the car into limp mode to prevent damage from occurring...Any thoughts and comments would be greatly appreciated.I need some more practiced wisdom, because obviously all I can do is guess.
Only solution that I have right now is to spray the crank with water?... pretty pathetic I know :( soooo PLEASE HELP

Justin

Do the cheap stuff first: check that your belt isn't greazy from the penetrant. Petroleum-based lubes like PB Blaster (I think it's basically diesel) will compromise rubber--you may have caused your belt to stretch or deform. A new belt is cheap: try throwing one at your car and see if it solves the problem.
