my story isn't nearly as bad..it does suck tho..

basically i upgraded my pulley to 15%
a year later it starts making tapping/knocking/ticking noises. (i have multiple posts and wat not on this matter)
i call up the place i got it installed at. they dont hear any tapping noise..??
i can hear it clearly..i take it to the dealer, they replace some other things that wasn't on my "fix-it" list. didn't fix the noise
i go back again to fix the noise, yet still, they can't fix the noise. and again, they replaced some parts that weren't on my list.
i go back again, and they say it's because i upgraded my pulley, and it's making everything slowly start to fail? does that sound right?

so im taking my car to the dealer again (1k till 50k) to get this and that fixed, and im going to tell them again about the noise. wat do i have to do to get this fixed? they wanted to replace the crank pulley and belt tensioner, but not under warranty..I didn't have nearly enough money to pay for it so i said forget it.
anyone have any advice on wat to do?
By the way...MINI has a JCW pulley that is 14.7%.

i thought it was 11%?

but dealer won't fix the ticking noises, as they said it's because of my pulley upgrade. i asked them to take off the belt and run it for less than 30 seconds and they said it's not making any noise... so they ruled the pulley to be the cause

so i am about 30 more miles till 50k. already got my car back from the dealer a while ago and they didn't fix anything i asked them to check out.

what an awesome experience..

Typically, since you made a claim about the noise prior to the end of the warranty period, you should be fine. I would suggest either going to a different dealer, or putting the stock pulley on (yes I know that sucks). Have you tried sourcing the sound yourself? Take a long screwdriver and place it in different areas of the engine and put your ear on the other end (I am not joking here...it works by amplifying the sound).

The crank pully could be a serious problem. It's hard to believe that it would need to be replaced, 1st gen crank pulley/damper - yours = not likely. The belt tentioner, maybe - if the spring tension is weak - could cause a little belt slap - ticking noise?

The blower makes some noise all the time, more like a rattle than a tick. I'm not encorageing running the snots out of the blower, but you could & people do. A 15% is not enough to dammage anything, true it will shorten the life of the blower - how much? = unknown.

What you might call ticking, others might call a rattle. I see lots of "I have that exact problem" which might be the case but probably not. If you could describe the noise in more detail or post a sound clip it would be helpfull.

Flingger, not all BMW SAs are like the people you had to deal with. Unfortunately there are enough of these people in all business/corporate that denie everything. It would be an easy fix & good PR but....... The war on stupid is losing
