Clunking/Knocking noise from front end when cold
I have the same problem that was posted earlier this year where when my car is cold I get a really bad clunking noise from the front end that goes away once it warms up. In the last thread there were a couple ideas like loose ball joint and worn bushings. My car is stock and I've had both tie rod ends replaced on both sides of the car. The motor mount looks fine, as that was my first thought. Anyone have any experiences lately with this type of thing and solutions? Thanks!
Update to last night, I drove this morning when it was cold and I'm pretty sure the sound is coming from under the dash area, there is a metallic knocking and it seems like almost a liquid type sound as well. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the heating system, as it goes away when the car has warmed up?
stupidity solution available, after spending 30 min's crawling around underneath in sub zero temperatures I couldn't find anything loose or knocking around that could cause the noise. Went for a short drive to try and isolate the area where the knocking was coming from and noticed that the front sunshade was loose, it was vibrating everytime the car hit a bump, causing the knocking noise. Tightened it up and problem solved! Wish everything was this easy.
