Anyone know where I can get a cheap trunk/boot lock mechanism? apparently that's the issue with my trunk, somedays, it wont open, some days it wont lock onto the boot to keep it close and I have to manually click this white piece on it to keep it closed.. its' killing me softly!

 

not sure if they carry it or not, but you could try rockauto.com . They are pretty good on prices and have a lot of parts for most cars.

 

Call Classic MINI and see what the OEM replacement availability and cost is. It may not be that expensive.

 

I had the same problem. My problem happened when washing or raining. Moisture got into the lock mechanism. My temporary fix was something crazy like starting the car and hitting unlock, then lock, while in the car. Don't remember exactly. Anyway, I cleaned out the electrical connectors and reconnected with some dielectric grease. Fixed it right up. Not sure if that's the same as your problem, but sounds alike.
