Nothing to do but take it back to the dealer.

Hope it works out.

Great response.. Unless you are constantly doing it grinding that one time shouldnt destroy your tranny. It could be something simple let the dealer looked at and see what they have to say.

So you think if the OP goes into the Dealer and tells them that he ground the Gears and now can't figure out why his car won't shift into 3rd?? They're going to say...."Oh it's OK we just had another person come in with the exact same problem...sure we'll fix it right up for you and don't worry about the cost...we all make this one itty bitty mistake...ALL THE TIME!!" I don't think so...nor should they!!

Do you really think that missing one gear, one time, will destroy a tranny? Who hasn't missed a few gears. I've missed third a few times in my R56 (damn thing should come with a short shifter) and it still shifts perfectly. Give the man a break, Mario, he may not be as good a driver as you are, and if the tranny is destroyed after one missed shift, then not only should it be fixed under warranty, they should redesign it, and recall all the units currently in service.

No, I would assume they would go to the dealer and say it wont shift into 3rd and they would then check it out. The OP just stated the had a mis-shift not that they do it all the time. Everyone has had a mis-shift which shouldnt be an issue.

My point to you is rather than giving any useful advice you just told the OP they are SOL. Thats not the point of the forum.

I notice a lot of people on this forum are quick to blame the OPs for mistakes instead of admitting the car has a problem. There was one thread where a guy's R56 would run out of gas when the gas gauge was showing almost 1/4th left. Everyone was quick to blame the guy for not learning when the car needs to be refilled and some said that the gas gauges aren't meant to be 100% reliable, and its his fault for relying on it too much

Anyway, don't mean to take this off topic. Take it to the dealer and tell them about the problem. Its most likely not caused by you grinding the gears. I've grinded many gears in the past and the trannys are built to handle them. It happens...
