brake fluid leak

brake fluid leak

hey everyone, i have a break fluid leak im pretty sure and im really nervous about driving i would llike to get this fixed asap i was wondering if i could just do it myself real quick or would you guys recommend me just bringing it to the dealer. i would love to have this fixed before monday. if anyone wants to help me im around yonkers new york. thanks all

its seems to be dripping from the fluid tank..and no i havent fixed it yet..the brakes still work fine..jsut the DSC is off constantly

If it's leaking between the master cylinder and the fluid reservoir, a seal is weak and shouldn't affect braking power. But brake fluid is corrosive to paint, so you might want to check if Mini carries the individual rubber seal.

You would have to extract the fluid using a turkey baster, remove the reservoir and install new seals. The entire brake system will have to be bled to remove air bubbles.

If your pads are almost on their way out, I would replace them too since you have to remove the wheels to bleed the calipers.

thanks alot..im going to take it to a shop tomorrow since the dealer doesnt want anything to do with me

See this link for an explanation of how the brake master cylinder works. And you will realize from this why fluid leaking from the reservoir is not an issue with respect to braking.
