The &#&$(# stock radio died on the way home yesterday. I checked the two fuses inside and they're both fine.

Any suggestions beyond that other than get it to the dealers?

There is a 10 amp fuse on the rear of the headunit as well, it may or may not be something to check as well.

How do you access that particular fuse to check it out.

MANY THANKS!

The easiest way (no tools needed unless you have a parcel shelf) is to yank down the knee olster and with the aid of a flashlight and a mirror, look at the back of the radio for the fuse. It's not easy to get to in this fashion, but it's easier than pulling the head unit out.

This is what it looks like (head unit removed):

I hope this fixes it for you.

The pic is stolen from one of my other threads, it's easier to show than to describe!

Nope...no joy in Mudville tonight. I checked the fuse on the back and it was fine. I even rang out all three fuses with a mulitmeter to make sure it wasn't my old eyes. They're all fine. Dammit... guess I have to go to the dealer.

&$*%#

Good luck with the dealer. I know how you feel, going to the dealer for any sort of service is about as bad as pulling teeth.

What ever the heck Sum 41 is...

Update: took the Mini to Mini Snottsdale over two weeks ago before I took a motorcycle trip down to Copper Canyon in Mexico. Imagine my surprise when upon return, I called them and they said that they hadn't fixed it yet. Seems that BMW/Cooper, for all of their technology, ran out of radios. They had gotten one in and it went to another guy whose radio failed before mine.

We went through another week of waiting and I finally asked for a loaner. With a Hertz loaner costing the dealer about $35 a day, we'll see how long it takes now. Quite frankly, this is fairly pathetic.
