Do all 2006 MCS heaters suck

So my stats are I have a 2006 JCW MCS about 25000 miles. When it gets about 30 degrees or colder the condensation on the windows is UNREAL. I have to carry a microfiber towel with me just to wipe things down every 10 minutes. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you turn off your AC?

Any car will steam up in the winter unless you hold your breath.

The auto mode on most cars (mine included) automatically uses the AC to remove condensation.

Another possible cause is a leak that would lead to excess moisture- Are your carpets dry?

My heater works great! Make sure you have the recycle option turned off and you are using outside air. I have never had a fogging issue. Note: It was 5 degrees today and with the heated seats I stayed as warm as toast! Including my buns!

I don't have a foggy window problem. The point about your carpets being wet: is that true? If you have massively saturated carpets, that could be adding significant humidity to your cabin.

I love rubber floor mats for that reason. If you have lots of water in them, just take 'em out and dump the water/wipe 'em down. You're all set. Carpets hold the moisture for weeks and weeks.

Oh yeah, and don't recirculate. And try having the AC on, even with the temperature **** moved over to all heat. It will help.

Yes, you can't have air recirc on. Any car will do this if air recirculation is on in the winter.

I don't know the exact temp the A/C cut out switch is set for our cars, but when it gets below freezing, the A/C won't come on no matter what.

The previous posts are correct, if anything inside the car is wet, the carpets, an old towel, anything, this can cause this problem.

If you set the controls to manual (I never use auto) and set the blower to a reasonable setting, the air direction to defrost, and the temp to something around 70 or higher and you get instant window fog, I would then look for a leek in the heater coil. Is your coolant level going down?

I would also check the heater/A/C drain tube under the middle of the car. I would look for signs of coolant.

Also, if this past summers A/C condensate has not drained out due to a plugged drain, all that water trapped in the tray under the heater/ A/C core could be the problem. On a warm day, do you get a drip from the drain under the car when the A/C is on? Try gently running a coat hanger wire up the drain tube and see if it is plugged.

Just some suggestions.

I remember that just before the cold weather set in the A/c did not blow cold. I understand that all cars will fog in cold weather but when I go down the road and every other vehicle has clear windows and mine are sweating then I know there has to be something up. I have noticed that on some days my seatbelt (drivers side) gets very damp other than that?

Check that the exhaust vents at the rear of the trunk are not obstructed.

I Like MCSC Heat

I am pleased with my Mini heat. Generally, the engine heats up quickly, and so I have heat quickly. Very comparable to my previous old Ford, which also heated quickly.

+1, I live in Toronto and it gets cold up here. I noticed when I used recycled air all my windows fog up and it actually became dangerous to drive. Use the fresh outside air and your problem will be gone. BTW, my 2 back windows always remain fogged no matter what during the winter.
