Rust

I have a 2009 Cooper S with 2600 miles on it. Just brought it in to have the color line changed as it came in wrong from the factory..... The rust issue I have is on the chrome trim going around the entire vehicle. Told the service guy and he ordered a new peice for me. Anybody else have issues with this piece of trim? Also had the hood emblem replaced as it was falling off, the rear wiper stopped working and had the drivers window reset as it did not "Dip" upon opening and closing the door.

The rust was on the trim itself?

I have same thing occur on the rear hatch trim, but only in one small spot. I just clean it off. I probably should put some wax on it at some point and/or get it replaced under warranty.

well nimcosi I think it's just that poster really doesnt know how problematic the door sill rust situation is with the R53s, as well as the extent of all the other niggling and serious problems many of which I experienced with my 2005 S to the tune of over $8K charged back to BMW for warranty work. I will never again buy any automotive product that has Rover DNA lurking within..

the problems U listed happen, except the rust on the chrome? Ive never heard of this, and I know our cars come from England literally dipped in Cosmoline to prevent this kind of stuff from happening. keep us posted.

Im taking my 2009 S t'row to have to have the break-in oil and filter changed at 2K, and I'll have them give it the once over. But we dont get rust where I live, and Im still cleaning off rogue cosmoline off my hatch every now and then.

With the exception of few mild-annoying interior road harmonic rattles/buzzes, problem free motoring on my part. Cant say that with my not-so-dearly departed 2005, may satan rest its chili red soul
