Got it yesterday and will do the install today. If all goes well I will take some pictures and post them. I have heard there are some issues during the installation so wish me luck.

I put the new version of the B&M short shifter in my 03 MCS 2 weeks ago. NOW I really like it alot. It DID take some getting used to! It will require more force to engage a gear, and the gates are less forgiving, but far more precise. When you put the shifter kit in, one thing to think about is whether or not to replace the rubber shifter case mount bushings with the new aluminum ones. What the aluminum bushings do is essentially hard-mount the shifter case to the frame, instead of letting it float on rubber. That will greatly firm up the feel, but you will feel alot more "machine". It will not have that "lush" feel, but you will gain precision and speed. It's a personal pref. I opted for precision, and now I love it. the worst part of the install for me was getting under the car: FREAKY. I used a floor jack and jack stands, and THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! I made hardwood blocks that fit the car's jack points for safety. Do NOT suport the car just on the plastic jack points. I only lifted the front end, then used the other 2 stands as back-up under other points. I was paranoid. The other tough part was bereaking loose the exhaust bolts. Torquey!

It was not very difficult. Good luck! :smile:

For information's sake; ProMINI short shifter same as B&M

You might like to add to the decription of the short shifter that the thread size is 12mm x 1.25 pitch for the ****.

Had a B&M shifter installed yesterday. After some driving, making comparisons and getting used to it, this is what I would have liked from the start....short, precise, tight shifts....almost eliminates the notchy feel that I didn't like at all. At first I kind of missed the ball shape on the stock shifter, but after only a day it's no longer an issue. Very glad I did it.

You got a deal, after installing mine I wouldn't install one for less than $125.00.
But then I made a couple little changes to mine;
1. polished the lower ball to a chrome like finish
2. used silicone sealant to set the aluminum bushings in shifter mount as vibration cushion
3. made thin rubber washers for the tops of aluminum bushings
4. replaced supplied allen head bolts with 10mm hex head bolts and split lock washers
5. lubed every thing possible including shifter full cable travel
6. put antiseize on the exhaust flange studs so they don't rust on
I'm ditching the shift **** that came with it as I really like the stock **** and if in comes off on the 1st to 2nd shift I'll put threads in it ( 12mm x 1.25 pitch ).
I love it too !! Great product, instructions = close
