frameless windows are annoying

Hi Folks

I've got an 05 Mini convertible non S.
My windows do not drop down far enough when i open the door, and as such, they catch on the outside of the trim occasionally when i close the door, keeping the window outside the track and bending it rather nastily.

What can i do? the window seals nicely, and doesn't leak, which i like.
It is almost as if it just needs to drop .25" or so more to make sure it clears the outside.

Any suggestions? I've taken to closing the door by pushing on the window so i "lean" the window down a bit to ease it into the track -- kind of like how a cop eases a suspect into the back of a police cruiser.

Thanks!
Eric

Have you tried lowering the window all the way and then putting it all the way up? Sometimes that will "reset" the window. Otherwise sounds like it needs to go to the dealer to get adjusted.

The dealership has a tool that you slide in the door and you can adjust the window up and down some to get it just right for seal and clearance. I've seen it used. It looks like those things people use to unlock doors.

The only time I've had issues with the windows not going down like that was when the window motor started to fail.

Reset windows method from Bentley: (I think this should be done with the top up) Run window all the way up and continue to hold the switch in the 'up' posistion for 5+ seconds on each window. This should reset the system. If not, it may be a dealership trip.

There is also a reset procedure in the owners manual. I think it involves holding both switches up at the same time or something. I read that for my 2006 MCS (non-convertible), but you may want to look what your says.
