SES and code 1477

(Originally posted accidentally in the R56 forum):

Ok I did a search 1st w/no luck, blah, blah, blah.... I have a new motor (complete new motor top to bottom) due to catastrophic #1 con rod failure (probable lean condition) and the new motor's running great except now I get a code 1477 w/the "Service Engine Soon" light.

My handy-dandy Bently manual says this is the code for "Leakage diagnostic pump reed switch did not open" Also lists a MINI FC of 5239.

No idea what that is or what that means.

The code seems to only come on when the car is cold (1st start of teh day) and I can clear it w/no issues w/my Peake Research tool. Car seems to run fine regardless of teh light/code but want to "fix" this to ensure it's not an indicator for more serious issues...

Any ideas?

Finally found some info after doing a search on just "1477" vs. "Code 1477" re: the pump under the rear bumper, the lines, etc. After doing some more reading about what the system does, on a hunch I reset the gas cap and then reset the light/code w/my Peake Research tool.

Guess what... 3 days w/no code now even after a trip to the Nurburgring!

All this for a bad gas cap seal!
