First check your fuses.
In the past I've pulled a wire from the cig lighter loose when messing with the console, so you can try R&Ring it and checking those wires.

I don't think the aux is the same in the 2nd Gen, but for the 1st Gen, you can reach behind the stereo and make sure that it's plugged into the lower left corner (looking at the front of the stereo.)

If you're not comfortable with electrical connections, you may want to head back to the shop.

I believe the jack in the boot and the cigarette lighter are on the same fuse. They may have disturbed the connection locally.

Hey guys I could use a little help... My cigarette lighter stopped working last night and I havent been able to charge my phone in my car :( Any idea whats wrong with it? My aux in still works fine. If its a fuse, how do I check? It is used every time my car runs (14k miles if that matters), since I have a stationary ipod in the car.

Thanks!

Bradley

This sticky lists all the fuses. The fuse panel is in the passenger foot well on the right. The other side of the panel has a diagram with locations. Pull out the fuse (you can use a needle nose plier) and see if the metal wiring in the casing between the fuse blades is intact or not.

Same problem, I was figeting with my phone charger and all of a sudden, the lighter outlet stopped working. The one in the back works fine, I checked the fuses and they seemed clean, I tried checking to see if i disconnected anything so I took apart the center console, but the connections seemed fine... how do I replace the sockets if that's what needs to be done??

Check to make sure that you didn't blow the fuse inside your phone charger. There's usually a fuse inside the tip. To verify that your outlets are still working, plug in something else and see if it powers up. If it does, your problem is the charger itself and not with the car.

I'm sure I didnt blow the fuse of the charger, i tried by cigarette lighter as well as this air ionizer in the outlet and nothing works. I can only assume i need to resolder the wire in case i pulled something...

just bought a used 2007 cooper s and having the same problem. Both front and trunk auxiliary powers are not working. Fuse looks good, going to change it and make sure. Any other trouble shooting I can do? Extended warranty doesn't cover this type of thing.

Just talked to mini dealer who told me that cigarette lighter is not a power port and that I need a special adapter to make it work. Sounds like a crock to me. Anyone heard of this?
Beginning to think it will be easier to hard wire something straight to the radio power supply.

It is a power port; I have a USB adaptor plugged in to mine and it powers the phone just fine.
