Throttle by wire

Mini Clubman 2008 base model with 6 speed auto. Has anyone experienced a dead throttle, ie you are stopped waiting to make a turn and when you press on the throttle to accelerate nothing happens, so you pump again and again till finally it goes? Kind of scary when you are pulling in front of traffic to make a left turn. Appreciate any comments, no trouble codes.

haven't had that experience but something else. Just this week my Mini would start up during the cold freezing temps. and when I put it in gear it would not shift up from first. The rpm's were rough and was jumping around and the CEL went on as well.

I took it to the dealership and they said the CEL was for throttle condensation? Not sure why there would be condensation there but, hopefully it won't happen again.

throttle body freezing is when cold moist air goes through the throttle body and ices up the throttle plate so it does not respond till the coolant warms up the engine and de ices the throttle plate, It may have been very damp a day before and then cold the next day, we have been getting that kind of weather here a lot, and it could cause that issue, though it was more of a problem on carbureted vehicles. We solved our dead throttle issue by selling the car, did not want to get killed trying to turn in front of someone and have no throttle.

WOW! Sorry to hear you sold it. Perhaps a little work with your dealer to get it resolved first? Our '06 MCSa has a slight bog when slowing down to make a turn, but giving it a little more throttle to force a downshift always solves that issue.

My sister's '02 MCa is a dog, almost dangerous to make a left turn...

Since the OP has a Clubman, thread moved to 2nd Gen Stock Problems/Issues.
