Engine light came on and it is being picked up and transported 140 miles to the closest dealer... The idle seem way off also...I CALLED 3 DEALERS W NONE OF THEM EVER HAVING THIS ISSUE...... It does sound like a trans software issue... Keep us abreast and good luck!

the fuel curve is also way off.... I did notice the engine running very rich but the issue was the converter not releasing and the surging of the car.......

^^catguy that certainly does sound complicated with their findings just remember to keep track of the time at the dealership for the repairs should time run much longer.

Fingers crossed that they correct the problem and you will be back motoring in your Mini in no time.

This today's update... I am working with Northwest Mini in Tacoma WA.. Greg one if the service writers. The first way I deal with Any service shop or dealer is to make them fully aware of my background..I have been a drag racer for 20 years and totally understand that issues such as this issue are just the part of owning the beast.. Being new, used means nothing to me... All mechanical beasts have mechanical issues that is why warranties are written...

Now for the specific details and steps the dealer, factory rep, New Jersey entry shop for all Mini's,and finally the Factory engineers have taken to fix the mini clubman s... The engine is misfiring on all cylinders.. very rough... 1ST reprogramed the computer ( no fix), 2 nd, replace the complete computer ( no fix), 3nd brought in parked next to my clubman a NEW Clubman... replaced all sensors approx 5-7 that manage the engine.(no fix) 4th replaced the high pressure fuel pump ( no fix) 5th they are in the process of replacing the intake manifold (thinking there may be a crack. They will start it soon to see.. Now I asked them if they had done a compression test to see if Valves, rings, or piston damage? ( they have not do these steps)... They HAVE NEVER HAD this issue with any 08 mini's... This was the factory speaking to this dealership.. Oh well "THIS TO SHALL PASS".. I will keep you all posted.... 4 pm Pst

Hey Catguy. Not surprised as I am having a sort of similar problem with my cabrio with 1500 miles. When I put her in reverse, the engine light comes on and it goes into safety mode ie stays in 2nd gear. They fixed this once, happened again and now they are replacing the entire transmission. I have to wonder with all thats happening to your car when they throw their hands up and say you have a lemon and give u new car or refund.

it took them 27 days to replace all necessary parts under the hood and no fix so they went into the dash and checked all grounds and FOUND a loose one.. all fixed and no problems... The main problem is the carbon build up on the intake valves due to the evac system sending oil vapor off the head into the intake maniflold.. This was done to clean up the enviroment.. oil mist coats the intake runners and also carbons the intake valves and the top of the piston..... Vw bmw also has the issue.. FIX... use only 91 octane gas and change your oil at every 6,000 miles forget about the free change find a shop that does mini work and have them do it.. 80 dollars... plus use bg44k treatment in your gas every 5 k miles which rides the carbon....
