Somebody (Anybody) Put My Conscience at Ease...

...Just tell me that if I order a MINI that everything will be OK, I won't spend days with it in the shop, and if I decide to keep it past 50K miles I won't be looking at $7K transmission replacements, $1.5K clutch jobs, and/or $1K brake jobs!!

My reasons for considering a new MINI are fun, personalization, and economy. If most of the repair issues I've been reading about on this forum (and other forums) are to be expected the "economy" and "fun" part will be nonexistent!!

Have the transmission gremlins been worked out so that if I get a new MINI I can expect to get five years of reliable transportation out of one?

Being new to the forum, I'm not trying to stir anything up here or create a troll post...I'm just seriously scared after reading all the issues people are experiencing!!

Also...I DID do a search and read this thread https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138069 ...I guess I'm just looking for a little more positive encouragement (I'm particularly frightened about transmission issues).

C'mon...talk me into it....!!!

You also have the option of purchasing an extended warranty. I don't have my car yet but towards the end of the 3 year warranty I will be considering this option. My day job is in insurance (vessel and P&I), and peace of mind is worth something to me.

In your earlier posts back on July 30, 31 you wrote that you have already ordered a Clubman and that you had received your production number etc.

Care to explain?

No car is perfect and you should not be talked into purchasing any car, you'll regret it always and resent being tricked into it. MINIs will have problems just like all cars, you just have to way your wants with the possible negatives. If you feel uncomfortable with a MINI purchase, go with a car you won't mind parting with in a year or two. Hope you choose a MINI, but only if you really want one!!

As in most things if one person has problems they will tell everyone they know and more, a problem free owner might tell two. There are MANY happy problem free Mini owners, if there wasn't Mini sales wouldn't be going through the roof.

Ummm...I can try...

1.You're not a careful reader
2.You were so obsessed with searching for my previous posts to accuse me of something you read what you wanted to read
3.You just made an honest mistake, jumped the gun, and acted like a *&^% on a public forum...with apology to follow.

I honestly don't have a clue what you're talking about (although I did TESTDRIVE a Clubman in July and asked about where to download the owner's manual so I could research it more).

Thanks for the warm welcome and encouragement!

I should also add that I DO appreciate the positive words.

Like said, unhappy customers will tell everyone where the happy ones keep quiet...I was just hoping to hear from multitudes of happy ones.

Yes I have numerous problems with my '08 MCSa with under 6000 miles but I would certainly get another one in a heartbeat because it is so much fun to drive.

The MC is highly recommend by all of the motoring press which should also be a good indication for you too.

I'll hopefully have our little MINI in early September, I'll tell you my experiences then, but you need to trust yourself and feel the decision was yours and yours alone. I read Ian's comments and checked out your earlier posts and saw there was nothing tangible there, just a readers mistake. Don't be mad just let it go, and continue your research on your MINI. You have a big decision to make and you don't need to be side tracked by peripheral issues.
