drivers door lock... problems....

This is what's been happening for nearly a year with just my drivers door. The passenger door works 100 percent fine.

Read carefully as its easy to get this mixed up.

My drivers door will lock fine with the remote or the toggle switch inside.

It WILL NOT unlock by the remote or toggle switch. I have to either unlock it manually with the key, or if I'm inside, just pull the inside handle and it'll unlock like its supposed to.

I've looked in the door and no cables/rods seem to be loose/disconnected.

HOWEVER...

When I press unlock on the remote or toggle switch, as I stated previously, it won't unlock the drivers door, but you DO hear the click noise that the mechanism makes, as if it is TRYING to unlock it. So it DOES register when I press unlock, or hit the toggle inside to unlock, but it won't actually unlock the latch.

Again, it does LOCK fine..just not unlocking.

Any ideas? From what I would think, if the mechanism/actuator was bad, it wouldn't lock OR unlock, and it wouldn't make the noise like its unlocking it...

The part from MINI is 147 dollars. Can this be had for cheaper elsewhere, and still be good quality?

You need a new door lock actuator. I had that problem also. Replaced it and now it works fine. I think its like $120-$150 for the part.

Have you seen this thread?

Lots of good information there if you are planning to fix it yourself, where to get the actuators, etc etc.
