Rust On the lower edge of the door

I just noticed my 2002 cooper has rust perforation on the lower outer edge of both doors, I cant see the rust but if I run my fingers along the edge I can feel it, there is a rubber trim attached t the inside of the lower door edge, a place for water to hide. Please advise if anyone else has noticed this.

This is not the rust that was reported on the runnig board which my dealer jsu fixed for free.

I haven't had rust develop there, but I dry that area thoroughly after washing and leave the doors open for awhile to allow the rubber to dry.

Update, I am pleased to report that my dealer has agreed to repair the rust on both lower door edges.......I got the approval 4 days before the warranty expired. The warranty is 6 years on the 2002 R50. The Dealer is MINI of Mawah NJ.

Nice, but I thought the rust perforation warranty was 10 years or 100k miles.

Its 6 years from the in service date on the 2002, not sure about the other years.

According to the MINI owners lounge, 2004 & newer models have a 12 year/unlimited mileage rust & corrosion warranty.

Earlier models are 6 years/unlimited mileage.

I only have about 2 months left to get the rust under the door seal to be fixed under that warranty. I better get something scheduled.
