Mysterious Window Dipping

I'm aware of the feature that causes the windows to dip when opening and then squeeze up when closing but here's my problem.

Several times I have noticed that the windows have dipped back down after closing. I have purposely watched them close correctly, only to come back and see that they are dipped down again.

It doesn't happen right away and it doesn't happen every time. Both windows are dipped not just one or the other.

I'm afraid I'm going to come back to the MINI after one of our notorious afternoon showers to find my front floorboard full of water.

06 MCS R53

Anyone have this problem or know how to fix it?

Thanks.

I think you have to reset the windows by lowering them all the way down, holding the switch up and raising the window while holding the switch for 3-4 seconds after the window is fully up. This is from memory so if you do a search, you may find a better description.

Now that you mention it, I seem to remember reading a post about that. Thanks for the jolt. I'll start a search. Maybe that will take care of the problem.

both windows you say? you probably had held the unlock button by accident for too long while you were away from the car. took me a while to figured that one out. but im sure that's what's happening.

Yeah, both windows. Good tip. I'll pay attention, thanks.

Hitting unlock multiple times will also trigger the windows. I had that happen last week in the rain. I hit the unlock about 6 times quickly in a row and then got in and wondered why the windows were down a crack.
I usually hit it a few times to make sure the boot in unlocked so I can put my laptop in the boot for the ride home.

I do the same thing, I dont think I've seen the windows dip though. One thing I hate is having to pull the door handle twice inside when I want to get out. It appears you pull it once to unlock the door, then again to open it, kind of annoying. My Jeep does this in one step...

I went into a store and when i put my wallet back into my pocket it has momentarily held down the unlock button. So when i went back to my car the sun roof was ajar and the windows were down a bit. Just don't press the key and your good to go.
