Heads-Up On The Carpet Floormats

Heads-Up On The Carpet Floormats
I have carpet floormats instead of the rubber ones. Ever since I took delivery, the driver's mat has been riding up under the pedals. Last night I looked on the underside of the mat and there are two velcro "loop" patches sewn there. I looked at the floor and there are two little plastic covers in the carpet which line up with the floormat patches.

Spoke to the Sales Mgr this morning and he said each set of carpet mats have velcro "hook" patches that fit in the holes in the floor and are supposed to keep the mat in place. For what ever reason, they usually throw them out instead of installing them. (?) So, mine are in the trash. He promised he would get me a set for my car asap.

So when you take delivery, check to see that the driver's mat is velcro-ed in place.

Rich

When I first bought a MCS then swapped out the next day for one with an automatic the MA took the floor mats from the first car and put them in my new one.Anyway I noticed the driver mat slipping forward and then when I pulled back on it I saw the attachment area on it and since then not a problem.

Yes. I put mine in a few days ago... for the rubber mats.. They fit great right were everything lays down flat, the screws into the carpet is chincy but so far no problems...

The mats I wanted were out of stock and shipped to my house a week later.....however the salesman explained how to install them before I left the dealers lot....We left the factory plastic protection wrapper on the carpet until I put the mats in. No slipping at all from the front ones, the back ones don't have the screw, but no room to slip either.

Yes.. you are supposed to take the plastic cap looking things (with the reverse velcro looking pattern on the top) and screw them into your carpet.

Thanks to this post I was aware of the issue when we picked up our floor mats yesterday. No, the velcro things were not attached to the mats like they should've been, but when I specifically asked, the parts counter guy reached under the counter and got a set. Seems I would've gone home without them, and ignorant of the issue, if not for this post. Thanks for the heads up, saved me a 3 hour drive round trip for a petty issue.

I'm glad this info helped you. It seems like such an intuitive thing, but my MA really couldn't explain why they don't normally install the velcro holders. Maybe by my raising it, they will install them in the future.

This has always been the setup (since 2002) for MINI floor mats...so this is no shocker really. Still, I sometimes think since the dealers have all this stuff seared into their brains, they somehow expect it to be the same with us.
