I get a high pitch whining noise when I come to a stop, its heard on the left side of the engine near the pulley's.

Inskip BMW/Mini said its coming from the water and is being replaced on thursday.

The car is a 2008 Cooper S and has 3200 Miles on it.

I first started experiencing the noise around 1500 miles.

How many others have had this problem? or are experiencing this problem right now?
Did replacing the water pump help?

 

I had the noise for about 2000 miles starting at about the 6500 miles mark. It was definately coming from the H2O pump. After the 2k miles it went away on its own. It was intermitent for awhile, so I didnt take it in right away. I wanted to wait till it was constant every day so they would actually hear it when I went in. Long story short, it was constant for about 4 weeks straight so I scheduled an appointment 2 weeks out. Wouldn't you know it, it stopped a couple days later and has never come back.

 

Had the same issue with my '07 MCS very early on (less than 2000). Took a couple of attempts to fix but it turned out to be the water pump.

 

Whenever I drive fast I hear a high pitched whining noise coming from my wife. Not sure if this would be covered under warranty or if MINI has a fix for this.....

 

I used duct tape, a clean sock balled up, several wraps around her head to ensure the sock stays in place.

 

The dealer can install a passenger "eject" button! I'm thinking about one specifically for my hubby!

 

Dropped it off thursday, picked it up friday.

No more whining noise!

 

I'm getting a whining sound only when I let off the accelerator and coast at low speed. It stops when the car stops. It's hard to tell where the sound comes from.

No, mine was whining at Idle.

I have found that in 2nd/3rd gear At 3200 rpm I have a high-pitch squeeling sound.

its weird, anyone else have this?

 

There was a service bulletin in Britian for "Alternator Whine" a year or so ago.

 

Mine's in today to get fixed up. Hopefully they figure it out. Ive heard from other threads that the noise sometimes comes back weeks or months after replacing the h20 pump. Hope mine doesn't make noise anymore.
Il just have to wait and see I guesse.
