Warrantee questions???
Warrantee questions???
Hello MINI brainiacs. First, thank you all for this wonderful forum. I have learned more than you know by your collective wisdom. I have had my 2005 MCS for about 3 months (29,500 miles). I will be taking it to the local dealers service dept to have the clutch replaced (hopefully under warrantee), as it squeeks loudly when taking off in the mornings (sort of like a chair dragging over a concrete floor). While in for this repair, I hope to have some other items examined, but thought I'd get some input from you folks beforehand. My complaints are minor, but are as follow;
My driver window screeches slightly when lowering. So every time the door is opened, and the window lowers slightly, I hear a screech.
My speedo and tach guages above the steering wheel (I have nav) are waterspotted on the inside slightly, as though the installer sneezed on them before the assembly.
The rear parcel shelf is slightly warped (lower in the middle), resulting in needing a little more of a slam to close hatch door.
The navigation system will occasionally be wrong, and will indicate verbally that my home is 400 feet out into the ocean, or out of the mapped territory.
The engine must of had an overheat, as there is dried coolant staining the underhood insulation, that I've tried to remove unsuccessfully. Also alot of the chili red paint under the hood has turned more of a pink/white (around strut towers etc).
The A/C (when operating in the manual mode, as opposed to using the auto mode) will seem to slow down on its own, yet the fan speed indicator will still be showing the same speed. When this happens, the A/C doesn't seem to blow as hard. It will resume to its correct fan speed within a few seconds,usually.
A couple of wires leading to the driver side driving lights seem to be rubbing together, causing the wire insulation to wear awat in spots.
I believe that is about it. Does any of this sound like warrantee work, or am I just being too picky?
I appreciate you good advice.
Best,
Mark
ps absolutely LOVE the car!!

Some items do and some do not sound like covered issues.
Best thing is to take it to the dealer and ask. We often have a different view of issues with our cars than the dealers do. Even different dealers have different views.
MINI of Nashville is very mod friendly and agreeable to look at just about any problem. Global MINI in Atlanta has been much less friendly, at least to me, about mods and warranty in general. So pick your dealer carefully, if you can, and just find out. Good luck.
