DEAD CAR!!!!!!
DEAD CAR!!!!!!
Please help me.
I have a dead car.
Today after work i went to leave. Put the key in turned to start and nothing.
all sorts of pump and spinning noises but no clicking or turning over.
I did however do a cam swap the night before. but i cannot find any missing or loose clips anywhere. i don't know if theres something i can look for to see if it is a possibility of a current leak.
I did replace the battery today with a brand new one.
but I got it started on a fluke at work and hasent wanted to turn over since.
I have it on a charger right now but the brand new battery seems to not have a lot of juice.
I am thinking i either have a burned Alternator or i have a bad starter/soilnoid.
If anyones got a clue or if this has happened to you please let me know.
Thanks in advance, Im hopin the mini community can pull me thru!

same thing just happened to me......i thought it was the alternator then the cam and crank sensors and then i scanned my computer and my ignition fault code came on....so i took it to the mechanic and 2 days later he called with the bad news....apperintly just a short power surge can fry your DME(computer), he said he found fried capacitors and itll cost around $1600 to replace...best thing u can do is scan ur ECU and take it to ur mechanic and hope for the best
I got it. thanks to a good friend he pointed out a slight oversight that occured during a late night Thrash to get my car buttoned up after a cam swap.
The ground wired on the pass side engine mount is apparently very important.
So check yours today!
