AC condenser
AC condenser
AC stopped working the other day. Today i noticed a nail sticking out of my condenser. There is no pressure release from the schrader valve on the ac line. Guess, the nail has punctured the condenser. Rather save some cash than let the local dealer rape me. Can I replace the condenser (pelican parts) and have an ac shop simply recharge the system and everything will be OK? Any special considerations to be concerned about? Thanks...
You should be fine. Looks like the condenser comes with a drier, which should be replaced since the system has been exposed to outside air for so long. Once installed, it should be a simple vacuum and recharge process. I don't have the manual in front of me, so I can't remember what the exact R-134a charge is supposed to be. I think around 1 pound, but you will want to confirm before they fill the system.
Great news... Have new oem condenser w/dryer in transit to me from Pelican.
Should be an easy job to swap it in and then off to an AC shop for the refill.
Looking forward to my air working again...
