EML in Reverse
EML in Reverse
I have an 05mcs with 54k miles. When the weather is warm, 50 degrees or over, and I back down my sloped driveway in reverse with the clutch fully out, the car stalls and the EML goes on. This never happens when I drive in reverse on a level surface, only when I back down the driveway. And not when I back down in neutral.
Anyone else have this problem?

Are you in gear and letting the weight of the car act on the engine, or are you coasting?
It sounds like it could be vapour lock, which as you're not accelerating the fuel pump isn't supplying enough petrol, it pulls in air and stalls, the EML light will be a result of it going lean as it stalls.
To try it out, start the car, give a little rev for a few seconds then roll down, if it stays running then that's the problem.
