Service Engine Light
Service Engine Light
Question. I have a 2003 MINI. It has 87,300 miles. The "service engine light" came on. The nearest MINI dealer is 100 miles away, so I called them and asked for advice. They said I could take it somewhere here to check the problem on the computer. I did and it said the O-2 sensor was out. I got it replaced. However, the next time I drove the car the light came on again. The people at the shop (who I know and am confident are not screwing me) think it could be the catalytic converter and I would have to take it to the dealer in Charleston to get that fixed. Any ideas? Could it be something else other than the converter? The shop's diagnostics didn't show anything other than the O-2 being bad. Could the O-2 part they installed be faulty? How long can I drive it with the light on? One other thing. I had the windshield replaced a couple of weeks ago and the next time I cranked it up, the light came on for the first time. The shop thinks it's nothing but a wild coincidence. Could anything with the windshield replacement have caused that? I'm just not looking forward to driving 100 miles each way and missing a full day of work if I don't need to. Thanks.
