Reverse Lockout problem..

About 1 in 20 times or so, when at a stop, putting the trans into 1st gear, it will slide right into reverse with no resistance from the lockout mechanism. Any ideas? Is this the excuse I need for a short-shift kit?

I have the same occasional problem withthe lockout on my 2003 MCS with 96000 miles. Every once in a while NO resistance to entering reverse. It's like the lockout does not work occasionally.

What lock out?

I thought there wasn't any lock out at all. I don't remember anything being mentioned in the owners manual about it.

I've actually shifted into reverse while still going about 5-10 MPH. Luckily I only let the clutch out a little bit before I realized what I had done.
