I misplaced one of my Key FOBs for my 2007 S. I almost fell off my chair when the dealer told me it was over $300 to replace it! Does anyone know if there their any other options? I looked at the aftermarket ones on the web, but no one seems to have them for an 07, and they look like they will only open doors, not start the car.

 

I had read a little while back that a law is in the works to require car manufacturers to make necessary coding/components available to 3rd party key places. But, as I understand it, right now, you don't have a choice. Will insurance cover it?

 

Thanks, I have not checked insurance - but I am sure they don't want to be robbed either! I have one key, but need a backup.

 

The reason I ask is that some policies have a specific key replacement stipulation/rider. I'm actually not sure if my present policy does, but the one I had in NJ did, with a $50 deductible.

 

Our Dealer (Molly En Route) said $150, I asked when I ordered her. I'd call other dealers and check with them.
