What items should I expect to be fixed on my 2003 MC?

Most of the problems that people have reported on this forum were from first year cars. Most of these problems seemed to have been fixed.

My question is what problems have not been fixed, that I should keep an eye out for. I'm getting an IB/W MC w/ packages 1,2,3, xenon and autowipe...

I know for example my windshield will probably crack. I haven't seen any threads and nothing from MINIDivision saying this problem has been resolved. I just hear their "I feel your pain" posts!

I'm sure you will enjoy your MINI! Have had mine since 1/03 with no problems at all. It should be noted that I only have 3,000 miles. I'm waiting for the JCW kit to be installed.

The MINI has been great, no rattles or drivability problems. As to the windshield, I would recommend that your careful if you jack the car up. My belief is that if you twist the body too much, it will agravate the situation. It seems like the fit between the glass and framework was too tight. There's definitely a problem, just thinking of ways to help it.

Good Luck!

Only problem, yet to be fixed is a hatch rattle. The latch doesn´t work properly. I have taken it twice to get it fixed with no results. I ended up fixing it myself with some tape.

I don't think that there's any point in dwelling on things that will "probably" break. Doing so is apparently one of the negative side effects of MCO-reading...and/or hopefully a malady that will quickly dissipate once you have your actual car.

Get it, drive it, enjoy it.

I got mine in April and it's got 8100 miles on it now and I haven't had any problems at all. It's been the most pleasant ride ever.

I would not say that your windsheild will 'probaly' crack.. I'd say that there was a slight chance... I've had my MCS since last september, and no problems (or windscreen cracks) yet...

And sometimes the latch rattle problem can be fixed by adjusting the little rubber feet that are on the hatch..

xenon starters

Aloha and enjoy your purchase.

The xenon starters seem to have some issues with a few people including me. I hope you have better luck.

You're getting a 2005? MC with 5 speed transmission?

Xenon lights- sometimes the starters won't ignite sometimes you have to replace the entire housing or wiring harness.

Rear hatch lock mechanism- if it fails replace it.

Windshield? It's easy enough to monitor for any cracks. Some have trouble but others never have trouble. The 2005 is supposed to be better on windshields. In my area we don't see that trouble.

5-speed transmission- some people have trouble but others do not. IF you only do regular driving and no autocross or track you should be OK.

You warranty is there to catch any problems. If you are worried then refrain from doing any big modifications for the first 6 to 12 months to see how your MC does. I think you'll be OK.

I've had my MINI for 111/2 months 23K+ miles and there have been issues, but nothing that has ever left me stranded. And to tell you the truth,it's more of a downer rehashing them than the issue itself
