The other day my boyfriend was driving my car, and stalled it. When he started it back up, my airbag light came on and hasn't gone off. Today I unhooked my battery to see if it would turn it off. It didn't. Is there a problem with 02 MC's airbags that others have had? Any ideas what might cause it to happen after it stalled? Is this something that a non-Mini dealer can check out? Any ideas about anything?

 

It is a known issue on the 2002 and mine is currently on and has been for a year. I have heard that they extended the warranty on this issue so i would bring it to a dealer to check out.

 

I heard that if the light is on, none of the airbags will work, is this true? Also is this something that a normal garage can look at and still be covered by a Mini dealer? The closest dealer is about 2 hours away..

 

Independent BMW shop should be able to help you out.

 

There is Still warranty for the 02 for 10yr or 150,000 miles if the following codes are stored FC 02, 03, 05, 06) If its any other fault stored, plan on paying for it.
