Today I noticed that the passenger airbag disabled light lights up briefly twice and then goes off when I turn the ignition on. This started happenning today after 40 mile drive with a passenger. It maybe normal, maybe I didn't pay attention to it before but it seems a little strange. The light isn't on while the car is running.
Opinions?????
so the airbag light above the rear view mirror shouldn't even come on if there is no one sitting on the passenger seat, right? I looked in the manual and couldn't find a definitive answer.

Yes this is normal.... My '05 MCS does the same thing. The airbag for the front passenger seat has a weight sensor and it automatically measures the weight of the person seated in front to adjust the deployment speed of the airbags. If no one is seated there, or for instance, a child under a certain weight limit, then the airbag turns off and the light stays on. But if the seat is empty, it flickers for a few seconds, then turns off.

Sometimes it comes on for no reason. Even if my wife is seated in the front seat, I have seen the light stay on for a minute or two and then goes off. I think the nature of the sensor and its placement make it a little vulnerable to false readings.
see what i dont get is why when i put my backpack down on the seat it will start beeping that the seatbelt isnt on but when i sit in my fiances 07 MCS the airbag light stays saying "passanger airbag off". i know i weigh more than my backpack so... why does it still do this?
It's messed up. The airbag off light is possessed and it is pretending to be functional when it really is just random blinking like the auto recirculation button on bmw's.

Ok that make sense. From now on I'll just ignore it, not a big deal.
