steering shaft and rust

I just found out this from another MINI community. It's from R56S and it looks bad I think because steering shaft has rust around it and the bottom material looks like tore

I am wondering that have you checked it up recently your R56? I cannot check it up now because I do not have mine yet.

Good tip. I'll have to watch out for that. I was surprised to see the steering column just hanging out down there when I was cleaning my carpets. It seems like it should be covered at least.

Ahh I see and he said he just found out this after a few days later since he took delivery. And I think also it should be covered.
