Sunroof NOT closing in high sppeds, but closes when i slow down..Any Idea?

Hi there
I am the second owner of a 05 MCS with only 14K miles...Here is the dilemma... I have tried to search the forum but there was not an exact answer for the situation i have...Most of the people had noises which solved by lubing but mine is different...
Yesterday when i was driving like 95+ miles ( no limit in highways here) with sunroof open, i wanted to close it due to the wind noise...
I touched the button to close and the sunroof tried to close itself but closed like 1" in 10 seconds, another 1" in 10 seconds and then backed up...
Tried again amd same happemed...
So... I slowed down to like 45 miles and then it closed w/o any problem...
My earlier cars like Benz, BMW, even my Renault did close the s/r at any speed...Why not Mini?
I dont think it is a lube issue, if it was, it would not close even at low speed...
Can somebody chime in....
Thnx

The sunroof closing at that slow a rate is a problem I've seen before on NAM (I'd have to search for the fix); it wasn't a speed related thing (I wont say just how much I know the sunroof function at speed) but a different electrical quirk, the speed was just coincidence.

The slow closing, actually not closing rate is only at high speeds, when driving slow like say between 10-70 miles, there is no problem in both closing and the speed of it...
So i have a hesitating to close S/R which backs up at high speeds....

Hmm, found the thread that I was thinking of, not as helpful as I had hoped it to be.

Isn't it only rated to open/close up to 70mph or something like that?

Thx "GBMINI" and "sequence" thats what happens, can close it when i slow down, worried if i had any issues but seems not. Weird though, first time hearing that i need to slow down to close the S/R in a car. Seems the S/R motor is not that heavy duty ....

Remember it's not truly a sunroof - it's really quite a hefty chunk of the convertible top with a front wind-hit edge that's a lot thicker than a simple glass sunroof piece.

I completely understand you,a Benz's or BMW's S/R can be called a real sunroof as it slides to the inner of the top of the car opposite to the MCS.
My daily driver Renault Megane II has the same type of S/R and it does not have such an issue of slowing under 70 to close it...On one side we have BMW made MCS and on the other side we have Renault....Just weird wanted to share my 0.02...

Thnx again :-)

Yeah you aren't the only one. I was doing around 120 kmh and I tried to close it but it stopped half way. Slowed down a bit and pressed the close button again and it worked fine.
