dropped bolt

I was taking off my intercooler today and I dropped the bolt to the bottom bracket. I've been knocking on the bottom to see if it fell there but I think its stuck somewhere. Anyone know of a good tip to try to find it? I might have to go to a hardware place and buy another bolt.

Sometimes you can use one of those antenna type extending reach wands that have a magnet on the end of it. My local NAPA store sells a LED flashlight that has an extending magnet in the middle of the light so you can search with a magnet and light and only use one hand.

Thats the animal I was talking about. I bought one for my Dad at Christmas at NAPA and it was at least $6 or so cheaper so if you are looking for one you might try searching the net and you might find a better price.

I had a similar predicament recently where I thought I lost one of the torx bolt, it worked its way loose and disappeared. Anyways I was tapping beneath the bumper and I heard something rattle. It was too hard to reach back there so I kept tapping the area for about 15 min until it dropped to the floor.

Since you already tried knocking, maybe drive around a bit to see if it'll work its way loose?

Yea I couldn't find the bolt, so I'm guessing it dropped out when I was driving around, or its just lodged somewhere. I found another one that fits perfectly. Thanks for all the responses, I'm probably going to have to pick up one of those wands, so I won't have this problem next time.

Look in the fan shroud with the magnet. use caution and care to not bend the fins on the radiator. That is where I found mine.
