Clutch smell .....
After a few burnouts today with a friend in the car showing off I noticed that the clutch was putting out a really bad burnt smell. I have done this a few times before but never had a smell after. Car has only 8500 miles on it so its not worn. Should I be concerned or just ignore it as probably did not let the clutch out quick enough. Any thoughts??? I hate the smell of burnt clutch. I have a modded car , Alta pulley,BMP strut bar, BMP Intake and a friend said the first thing the dealer is now checking is for the pulley. If you have it they are not working on the car and voiding the warrenty. So to bring it to the dealer is going to be a fight. I've heard so many agruements about this and wonder if anyone else has had the pulley and had work done WITHOUT a problem.

Good Luck, the clutch, if spent... is not covered by warrenty... if they deem it driver error or cause
I went through this once... they were stubborn about it... until I refreshed them about how they "Failed" to make it a concern when the shifter cable popped out 3 times causing clutch burn...
They were telling me it was going to cost nearly $2400 for clutch replacement.
Good Luck and if they don't cover it... buy a new clutch ... an aftermarket racing clutch.

I love the smell of Napalm and burnt clutch in the morning....
I've smelled that wonderful scent of burnt clutch too...it came after working on fast starts, riding the clutch and trying not to spin the wheels while keeping the revs the zone of maximal torque.
Good luck

I've spun my tires before when taking off but I've never noticed the burnt clutch smell. I try not to burn the clutch, I dont wanna pay all that money for a new one! When I was learning stick on an old nissan sentra I burnt the clutch many times!
I had that horrid smell many times while my car was new (no hi-rev launches...actually, I've done quick launches only a couple of times in my MCS since I'm always paranoid about the iffy drivetrain)...I get it a lot less often now though, oddly enough.
