Hi folks,

My 03 MC had developed a bad attitude lately! It makes a very high pitch noise ONLY when I make a turn (Left or Right). Sounds like a bell is skipping or something.

Is it a Power Steering issue? But I thought P/S only has a fan, no?

Does it have anything to do with weather? It's 32F in MN and pretty foggy, too much moisture in the air? It only happens when car sits for a while, leading me thinking a wet bell or something.

I thought I should ask experts here before I bring my MC and check-book to dealer...

I had these same symptoms for about 2 weeks before my power steering pump died. I hope your luck is better than mine.

It could very well be excess moisture on the pulleys causing some slippage. Does the noise go away after the car warms up? Wait until the weather changes a bit and see if the problem remains. Then think about going to the dealer/ independent mechanic.

The problem was excess moisture in the air!

The symptom went away when temp. drop down. But it's only 5 degree today... my poor mini...

Anyways, PS pump noise is still here. But it doesn't bother me anymore, I guess I just got used to it.
