Cold Weather Package

and this morning, even though my car was warmed up, I was not able to spray my windshield in order to wash it. It is about 8 degrees outside, but again, the engine was warm so aren't the sprayers supposed to be heated? Has anyone else had this problem?

From what I understand, the sprayers, as well as the wing mirrors, are heated when you turn on the rear defroster.

i don't think that is correct. the manual states that the mirrors heat when the temperature drops below a set degree. I think it also mentions the washer jets. The rear defroster is on a timer. Wouldn't you hate for your washers to not work because the time expired on the rear defroster? No good.

Page 31 of the PDF manual:
At outside temperatures below a certain limit,
both exterior mirrors are automatically heated
while the engine is running or the ignition
switched on.
Do not use
the washers if there is any danger that the fluid
will freeze on the windshield. If you do, your
vision could be obscured. For this reason, use
antifreeze.

Window washer nozzles
The window washer nozzles are heated automatically
while the engine is running or the ignition
is switched on*.

Of course, we all know that the manual was printed once, and a number of things have changed since then....

I've seen no indication here, on Mini2 or on Motoringfile to indicate that the windshield spray nozzles or the wing windows are controlled by the rear defroster. Please note your source.

i just figured it worked the same way as My 07 Silverado.

My silverado when you turn the rear defroster on it does mirrors as well.

just assumed, never really looked into it, hasn't been cold enough around here to try it.

8 degrees is pretty cold. I wonder if the jets are heating fine but the lines to the jets are frozen. How warm is the car? Do you have a water temp gauge in it?

i would imagine after the engine has been on for some time, there is enough heat under the hood to keep everything nice and toasty... heck, its hot enough to melt peoples hoodscoops i think it should be enough to keep the washer fluid a liquid!

Mine worked fine at -1 today, they work great actually.
I only turn on the defroster to heat the rear window up so I don't get steaking when the liquid drys.

-21 this morning here in rural Colorado high valley. Haven't got my MINI yet (waiting to be shipped), but I did order the CW package and we'll definitely put it to the test!

When I bought my '06 last year, that's what my MA said. I don't think I even looked for it in the manual.

Its 27 degrees hear and a wind chill has it at 16. That said I feel bad complaining about the weather (-8,-this,-that) . Forget the washers, I don't work that well below 25 degrees .

My MA said the heated mirrors and nozzles turned on when the heated seats were turned on. I just assumed that's the way it was set up, but I haven't checked.
