Bluetooth Noise

I have just taken delivery of my 2007 MCS and I am having a real problem with my Bluetooth.

The set up works just fine, imports address books and all the clever stuff, but the primary function (audio) is horrible, On every call I get massive amounts of static which makes conversation impossible. This is true whether the engine is running or not. I get the same problem with two different phones (Motorola RAZR and Cingular 8125).

I have tried searching the forum, but couldn't find anything like this. Before I head to the dealer I wanted to see if anyone else had suffered similarly. Anything obvious for me to try?

Thanks in adavnce

I'm using a razr on the ATT (was cingular) network and I have never had an issue like that.
If you aren't too far from a dealer I'd take it in and replicate the problem for them. Something must be interfering with the system if you are generating large amounts of static.

No noise for me with a RAZR either- static seems like an unusual problem to have with a Bluetooth connection. If the static is heard on the receiving side of the call, maybe you just have a poor connection with the microphone in the upper console?

There is a thread about moving the microphone over to the left hand side. It normally comes on the right side, for right hand drive cars.

That's shouldn't affect static though. Have the dealer check it out. Are you in an area with a strong cell signal? I have a Razr and haven't experienced any static also.

You may also try a friends phone and see if the problem still exists. That way you'll know if the problem is with the MINI or your phone.

Already tried two different phones, so it sounds like a trip to a dealer is in order. I have a short list of other warranty items they can take care of at the same time.

Not sure what Mini is using - the wife just got her new Toyota Highlander Limited last week and the bluetooth in that SUV is built into the radio and works great, I was very surprise how well - BMW/Mini should work as well, esp at how much they charge..

I helped test out another's Mini with this same problem. My bluebooth is working just fine. We both had RAZR phones. Both our phones work beautifully in my MINI but where plagued with static in his MINI. He left saying he was going to take it back to the dealer. I haven't heard yet about the final outcome. I would take your MINI back to the dealer.

This is my second MINI with bluetooth and I'd put it up against any on the market. Hell my gf's audi with a BT system worth almost 50% more than my MINI one drops her phone all the time. I've never had that in the MINI.

IN the Mini - when you are talking to someone - where is their voice coming from?? Radio speakers??? Sorry to ask this quesiton.. Other than my wifes Toyota - no other exp with bluetooth in cars..

Finally tonight - on the freeway, a call came into our Toyota Hightlander - I was impressed with the sound inside the Toyota - The sound was super clear and super easy to understand.... on hers, just had to pair the radio with her cell - then the cell stays in her purse with her keys... I am afraid I will Never get her back into a car that needs a key and she has to actually has to use the cell as designed..lol after 07/08 in CA - new law, hands free ...

With the Mini charging $500 for bluetooth all by its self... Raise hell until it is working right.... Mini should take care of it...

Through the radio. Volume is controlled by the radio volume controls, **** steering wheel button.
